Restorative yoga-inspired massage & meditation

Do you need a mind & body reset, but don't have time for (or simply don't feel like) a typical massage therapy session where you have to get undressed and under the covers,  then go back to your day with the feeling of massage lotion in your  hair or on your skin?  Give  Restorative yoga -inspired massage & meditation a try.

What is it?

This form of massage therapy  is a combination of  mindful breathing, guided meditation (my voice - recorded to give you more hands-on time), and gentle clothed massage with occasional gentle stretching of neck, shoulders, & torso.

A typical session will begin with  approximately 3-5 minutes of guided mindful breathing to prepare for the  session, time permitting (please arrive a few minutes early so we can start the session at the scheduled time).  Once on the massage table you will be guided through a meditation as you receive a combination of gentle restorative stretching & fully-clothed compression massage with light to moderate pressure.  There are five restorative positions that you will be guided into, & they can be modified as needed.

GOAL of Restorative yoga-inspired massage & meditation:

The goal for this type of work is deep relaxation using a combination of therapeutic touch, restorative stretch (very gentle and only held for 3 seconds @ a time), and mindfulness through meditation.  You will come out of your session feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the rest of the day.  Deep pressure is not used because the session's focus is restoration of body, mind & spirit, and avoids eliciting a pain response from your body as can sometimes occur with deep tissue massage

Price:  75 minute  1:1 session  for $105

From a client's perspective:

"This type of massage/bodywork  was a new experience for me, but it was so amazing & left me feeling stretched, relaxed, & at peace.  The gentle stretching mixed with massage, guided meditation & helpful deep breathing cues was a wonderful way to fully relax & cleanse stress from my mind and body.  It truly is SELF CARE!" S. A.

What should I wear to the session?

Wear comfortable clothing. Yoga pants, comfy sweatpants, and a t-shirt or tank are always a good choice.  It's recommended that you wear layers and bring socks. The room will be heated and blankets provided, however having options in case you get chilly is best.

Is this actually yoga?

No. It is inspired by restorative yoga, but it is not yoga.  Restorative yoga-inspired massage & meditation is the union of restorative supported stretching, hands on massage, and mindfulness through breath.

What is restorative stretch?

The positions you'll be in on the massage table  are inspired by restorative yoga.  In restorative yoga, you relax in gentle, restorative stretches supported by props that allow you to slowly lengthen muscles and get into the deep connective tissue over 10-11 minutes.

Gentle stretching is similar to massage in that it  increases dopamine (the happiness hormone) while decreasing cortisol (the stress hormone) and the body's stress response.

And the best this type of bodywork, we add therapeutic touch + mindfulness to each position.

The restorative positions we use are accessible to everyone who can get up and down off of the massage table. You don’t need to be “flexible” at all or have any prior yoga experience.

Why do we combine touch, stretch, and breath?

While all of these modalities are amazing on their own, combining them in a single session provides an opportunity for healing and relaxation like no other. When you experience Restorative-inspired massage & meditation you will activate the parasympathetic nervous system and create an environment for your body to relax and relieve stress like never before. And it only gets better the more you practice!

What should I expect from my session?
